Get to Know: Greenwich Play

The Thread Behind The Seams September 2025

At Pepper Home, we believe that great design should be as functional as it is beautiful—a philosophy we share with our partners at Greenwich Play. Known for their purposeful play spaces that blend early childhood education with thoughtful spatial design, Greenwich Play creates environments that nurture independence, imagination, and joy. We sat down with their team to talk about what makes their approach so unique and how our wallpaper collaboration brings their vision of intentional play to life.

01. Greenwich Play goes far beyond traditional playhouse design. Can you tell us what sets your approach apart from others?

We specialize in designing spaces that are both functional and beautiful. Spaces that support exploration, encourage autonomy, and respect the sensory and emotional needs of childhood.

02. Your designs are rooted in childhood education and development. How does that influence the way you layout and build your spaces?

Our work sits at the intersection of early learning and spatial design. We understand that every surface, sound, and transition within a space impacts a child's experience.

03. What are some common misconceptions parents have when it comes to creating a play space at home?

Our work is intentionally layered. Every element offers multiple ways to play, learn, and self-direct. It’s not as simple as selecting the right table or best flooring. It’s about how it all works together and how a child will make sense of it all.

04. We love your focus on functional beauty, especially how you integrate smart storage. Why is this such a critical part of your design process?

Greenwich Play believes in the “build once, evolve forever” approach. This is why we create dynamic scaffolding by designing zones, storage solutions, and opportunities in anticipation of developmental shifts. As they get older, it’s the materials that change, not the space.

05. What role does play serve in a child’s development and how do you support that through your design choices?

We curate space to support agency, reduce friction, and invite decision-making all through play. Our design choices impact how a child initiates their play, cleans up after themselves, and everything in between.

06. What excited you most about collaborating with Pepper on our wallpaper collection?

For me, it was working with a brand that clearly understood my vision to create wallpaper that sets the stage for intentional play AND also looked chic. I wanted it to be for the playroom, as well as a home office or closet. We achieved that!

07. How did your approach to purposeful play come to life in the final designs?

Ultimately it was important to me that everything included was intentional. I didn’t want anything distracting from the main event: play!
