Morgan Krulisky gave her boys the ultimate room revamp! Using our Frida Green fabric, she created a playful yet stylish space that her boys can grow up with. Follow along to learn about her design decisions!
First off, tell us a little about yourself!
I’m Morgan, a mom of 4 boys. I grew up in Atlanta and earned my BS in Apparel Design & Product Development from Auburn University. My first job after graduating was with the Anne Barge Bridal Design team. We have lived in New Orleans for 9 years. I love food, hosting parties, and anything that has to do with designing- from children’s clothes to living rooms!
What was the design vision for the bedroom?
I wanted a fun but classic space for my littlest boys. Keeping it playful but also sweet was my main priority.
What drew you to our Frida Green fabric?
I love the blue and green tones in the fabric. It’s very youthful, but also extremely classic and can grow with them over the years.
The scalloped detail on the roman shades is beautiful! What inspired that design?
I grew up as a ballerina and even earned a degree in dance during college. Scallops and the extra details on pieces carried me from costume design into bridal design and I love sneaking in a classic detail where I can! I’m all about a subtle nod to the past eras of design, and always looking to make a space or piece unique.
We love everything about this space. Can you share some of the other design elements in the room?
The twin beds and the smaller dresser were my mom’s childhood furniture. I love a mixture of old with the new. We found the bamboo dressers and I knew I wanted to paint them green. I’m constantly perusing catalogs, magazines and the internet in search for that one specific piece. Holly Mabry Poole is a local NOLA artist who was creating the most gorgeous palm paintings. Her work has always inspired me with the movement and colors she is able to create on a simple canvas. She brought a piece over to see how the colors worked in the space- and the minute we held it up to the wall we both knew it was meant for this room. It was hanging over her fireplace- but she said it’s true home was in the boys room. The blue scallop mirror is from Ballard Designs, and so many other elements I found here and there and collected over time!
Tell us about how you styled the bath off of the bedroom!
When we initially built the bathroom off of the boys room, I had the cabinet painted a periwinkle blue. I love a white tile and simple, clean bathroom space. The Frida Green Shower curtain just tied everything together! I found the cutest tiger towel hooks from Anthropology and just knew they were meant to be.
