01. First off, tell us a little bit about yourself!
Born & raised in Raleigh, NC, my husband and I made our way back here about 2 years ago after spending several years in Charlotte and a few in Chapel Hill. We have a 15 month old named Jack who keeps us on our toes (to say the least!) and a 9 year old labradoodle named May. Maggie Dillon Interiors launched about 3 ½ years ago and it has already been an incredibly fun, challenging, time consuming and rewarding experience. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for MDI.
02. How would you describe your style?
Eclectic, layered & colorful.
03. Where do you find inspiration?
Travel is a huge source of inspiration for me. And I have an absolute obsession with discovering new art and artists. I’m also regularly inspired by my group of design friends. This industry can be competitive if you let it, but it has offered insight to a seriously impressive lot of designers, many of whom I can call close friends.
04. Walk us through how you styled the pillows! How did you choose which patterns and piping to use?
I knew I wanted a good, solid base for the rest of our bedroom to pop off of and the solid fern euros are just that. The dusty rose fringe adds a touch of interest and I seriously love the color combo. From there, I chose to layer with a lumbar in your serena sea salt and knew I wanted to mix in more texture to accompany the fringe on the euros. The snow pom was the perfect finishing touch for this!
05. Do you stick to any design "rules" when mixing and matching patterns and colors?
There are few design “rules” that I haven’t broken :) but I think mixing proper scales is and will always be an important tool to keep in mind.
06. What are a few ways to elevate your living room/bedroom that don't require a full renovation or splurging on new furniture?
Paint can do wonders to freshen up a space. So can adding on top of what you already have, instead of starting new. Layered rugs or stacks of coffee table books can make a lasting impact. Swapping out paper lampshades for something more interesting is a nice touch, too! And of course, pillows always help.

Currently scouring through Heidi Caillier's ‘Memories of Home’ – every page is a design treat.
Color crush of the moment?
Forever obsessed with an olive green + mustard yellow pairing.
Wallpaper or paint?
Wallpaper all day.
Favorite project you’ve worked on?
I recently installed some Raleigh clients whose house once belonged to my great grandparents. The memories my dad has of being in their home made this project such a special experience.
