Caring for your Pepper Pieces

Beautiful fabrics are designed to be lived with, and a little care goes a long way in preserving their appearance. Whether you’ve chosen textured silk drapery or one of our high-performance fabrics, following a few simple maintenance guidelines will maintain their beauty for years to come.

General Care Tips

To help fabrics look their best, hang curtains promptly after unpacking, address spills as soon as they occur, and always test cleaning products in an inconspicuous area before full application. When in doubt, professional cleaning is the safest option for delicate materials such as silk and sheers.

Caring for Silk Fabrics

Dupioni silk wrinkles naturally due to its textured weave. Most shipping creases will significantly relax once the curtains are hung. For best results, hang curtains immediately and gently use a handheld steamer on the backside of the panels. Keep the steamer moving and avoid prolonged direct contact with the fabric. Let the curtains dry completely while hanging.

As silk is sensitive to heat and moisture, avoid ironing. Excessive heat can scorch the fabric, create water spots, or leave a shiny finish. For long-term care, professional cleaning is recommended.

Caring for Performance Wovens
