How do the shades operate?

Our roman shades feature smooth, cordless functionality for easy everyday use.

What are the mounting options?

We offer inside mount and outside mount.

Choose an Inside Mount for a clean, streamlined look that highlights your window molding and preserves sill space on deeper windows. Keep in mind that inside mounts have a few limitations: when fully raised, the shade will partially obstruct the view, and small light gaps will occur. They also aren’t suitable for windows with obtrusive handles or cranks. Adequate depth is required for the cordless mechanism—1.5" for shades up to 60", and 2.5" for any shade over 60" in width or height.

Choose an Outside Mount for greater privacy and light control, ideal coverage for non-square windows, and a less obstructed view when the shade is fully raised. This option can clear obtrusive window handles or cranks, enlarge the look of a smaller window, and even conceal existing window molding. The main limitation is that you’ll need at least 2" of flat mounting space above the window to secure the brackets to the wall or molding.

    What widths are available?

We offer custom widths down to the 1/8". The minimum width is 18" and the maximum width is 96".

    What lengths are available?

We offer custom lengths down to the 1/4". The minimum length is 24" and the maximum length is 108".

What is the depth of the headrail?

We have 2 headrail options: 1.5" for shades under 60" wide and 2.5" for shades over 60" wide.

What is the point of measure for each shade style?

Classic / Knife Pleat: Height = longest point

Scalloped Shade: Height = longest point of scallop

Relaxed Shade: Height = short point (on the sides)

    Are the shades lined?

Yes! You can choose between privacy or blackout lining. Sheers are lined with a sheer lining to give them more structure.

How do I measure for an inside mount shade?

Measure the width of the window at 3 points inside window casing – top, middle, bottom; use the narrowest measurement. Round up to the nearest ⅛”. The factory will make automatic deduction of ½”.

Measure height of the window at 3 points inside window casing – left, center, right; use the longest measurement. Use exact measurement to the nearest ¼”.

How do I measure for an outside mount shade?

First you want to determine the mounting location–on molding or above. Take into account molding style/shape.

Measure width of the window at 3 points–top, middle, bottom. Use the widest measurement including the molding. Use exact measurement rounding up to the nearest ⅛”. Add 2” (1” to each side) if space allows, for more light control and to reduce light leakage.

Measure the height of the area you want to cover from the top of the window (including molding) or window opening down to the sill–or lower if you prefer extra overlap for added light control and privacy. If you plan to mount the shade above the window molding, include both the molding height and an additional 2–4" to allow space for mounting hardware. at least 2" of clearance above the molding is required, and 3–4" is recommended for thicker, more protruding molding.

Measure at 3 points–left, center, right. Use the longest measurement rounded to the nearest ¼”. Shades up to 60" (in width or height) have a headrail depth of 1.5", while shades over 60" have a 2.5" headrail. Be sure to account for your molding depth if mounting over it.

How do I install the shade?

View our Roman Shade Installation Guide for a step-by-step breakdown on how to install!

When the shade is fully raised, how much of the window will it cover?

It will cover 8-16" of the window, depending on the size and style.
