Mary Alexander Satterfield created the nursery of our dreams! We love how she paired our Thatcher Rose curtains with lilac and pink accents, making the art deco pattern pop. To top it all off, she added two Suzy Sage bolsters to her daughter's crib. Follow along to lear more about Mary Alexander and her design choices!

First off, tell us a little about yourself!

Hi! I’m Mary Alexander Satterfield and I’m a wife, mother of two girls, and content creator. We live in the suburbs of Memphis, Tennessee and most days you can find me spending time with family, cooking, or playing tennis with friends! The mission behind everything I share over on @ma.satterfield is to help find ease in motherhood whether it’s by what you’re putting on the table or what you’re wearing.

How would you describe your design style?

If I could describe my design style in one word it would be happy! I found my true style after college while working for an event design and rental company. Week after week, I would see plain rooms with four white walls be totally transformed into completely new spaces with furniture, lighting, and beautiful florals. The spaces that always left a lasting impression on me were the ones with vibrant colors and patterns. There I found a love of mixing and matching colors and have weaved that all throughout my home!

What was the design vision for the nursery?

I knew I wanted the room to feel sweet and feminine so I originally started the design with pink and green in mind. As the room started to come together, I felt like something was missing. I came across a lilac filled room on Instagram and couldn’t get the image out of my head. With little hints of lilac in the nursery’s English Village Lane Rug, I decided to go all in. I added Funky Paper Co. lilac grasscloth to the ceiling and painted the trim of the room Inspired Lilac by Sherwin Williams. It was an unexpected turn but was truly the missing piece that brought the room together. I love all the color in the space and now that my daughter Lillian is here, it truly feels like her!

What drew you to Thatcher Rose for the curtains?

I originally was drawn to Thatcher Rose because of the soft colors that I thought were perfect for a nursery but ultimately chose them for the fun print that made a statement.

We love everything about this sweet space! Can you tell us a little about some of the other design choices in the room?

Thank you so much! It truly was a joy putting it all together! There are so many little details that I love but there is one tied to a memory that is really special to me. When I was newly pregnant with my daughter Lillian, I was on a girls trip to NYC and fell in love with a pair of Mackenzie-Childs butterflies. They were the first thing I bought for the nursery. It was such a sweet memory finding them on a trip with my closest friends! After finding those, I subtly weaved butterflies all throughout the design of the room.
