At Home with Maggie York

The Thread Design Diaries July 2023

There’s nothing more timeless than coastal design done right—bright spaces, natural textures, and airy details that feel like an instant exhale. Our Emma Curtains have become a staple in these kinds of interiors, and Maggie York recently chose the Sky colorway for her Florida vacation home. The result? A calming, elevated space that welcomes guests in true coastal style.

01. Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I’m Maggie York, interior designer and mother of four. I love all things classic and coastal. We bought our first vacation home in Watercolor, FL and have spent the last several months decorating it!

02. What was your design vision for your living room?

I wanted to soften the room so adding drapery to the french doors was my first thought. Since this is a vacation rental I wanted it to feel like a home away from home!

03. What made Emma Sky the perfect fit for your space?

Emma Sky instantly brought softness and color to our all-white living room. The airy stripe has that perfect coastal feel without overpowering the space.

04. How did you decide which curtain trim to go with?

I love custom details and the velvet trim added just the right touch giving the drapery some added personality.

05. We love everything about this room! Can you tell us where you sourced some of the other decor items?

The bamboo hall tree and jute rug are both from Cailini Coastal. The coffee table is from Society Social a few years back. The drapery rods and rings are one of my favorites from Annie Selke and I had a new slipcover made for the sofa locally.
